When the municipality of Bad Wiessee had trees felled in March, there was a storm of protest.

Now is being replanted - and Mayor Robert Kühn invites everyone to visit.

Bad Wiessee

- In March, an old linden tree near the Wiesse town hall fell victim to the saw, and a spruce hedge on the lake promenade was also removed in consultation with the municipality. This triggered a storm of indignation, which Mayor Robert Kühn (SPD) met with the declaration that the trees were sick. It will be replanted. Johannes von Miller (Greens) reminded the town hall chief of this promise at the meeting of the local council. "Now is planting time," Miller made clear. It is important to translate words into deeds from then and to communicate this to the citizens.

"Of course it has not been forgotten," assured Kühn.

The community is very happy to come back to the tree donation announced by Miller for the area near the former Hotel Lederer.

Another donation has already been announced.

The planting of these trees is the starting signal for a planting campaign.

It is important to him to make the citizens aware that felling may be necessary for safety reasons, but that the community also provides replacement, said Kühn.

Inspection with citizens

For this reason, the community started a tree inspection immediately after the meeting, to which all interested parties are invited. On Monday, September 27th, they will meet at 4 p.m. at the town hall. Then it goes to the lake promenade to look at the trees. Anton Linsinger from Baumpflege Oberland will be there as an expert. He is available for all questions about tree diseases, stability, pruning maintenance and traffic safety.

At the meeting, Miller had another concern.

He does not understand why the building yard recently mowed the roadsides at the Prinzenruh wide with heavy equipment.

Horsetail and other valuable plants grow there.

Elsewhere, the municipality is creating extensive flowering meadows and even exchanging soil so that something can grow, and in the forest, where what is desired thrives on its own, the building yard shaves everything off.

This is not necessary, said Miller: "With the first frost, everything collapses by itself."

Kühn left the answer open as to why, but announced that he would have a conversation with the employees of the building yard.
