Kaufbeuren - By definition, a corner point is not just a place where edges tend to meet, but also a point “for rough orientation”. Provide orientation, be a permanent point of contact for mutual exchange, all of this should now be the new Kaufbeuren cornerstone, according to project managers Till Nißle and Kilian Herbschleb from the Stadtjugendring Kaufbeuren. Kaufbeuren - By definition, a corner point is not just a place where edges tend to meet, but also a point “for rough orientation”. Provide orientation, be a permanent point of contact for mutual exchange, this is what the project managers Till Nißle and Kilian Herbschleb from the Stadtjugendring Kaufbeuren want to be the new Kaufbeurer cornerstone. At the opening last Friday there was even praise from a ministry in Berlin.

At the opening of the new premises in the old town, there was again a proud look from the federal capital Berlin to Kaufbeuren. Michael Matzke from the Federal Ministry for Family, Seniors, Women and Youth there brought with him a message to this effect. As early as 2019, Matzke said in his welcoming address, he was lastingly moved by the House of Democracy at the time. He even went so far as to report that projects from Kaufbeuren are often used as particularly good examples within the federal program “Live Democracy!”. "The applications from Kaufbeuren are mostly interesting on the one hand and so well made that we are happy to implement them well on the other." This is how it went with the idea of the corner point, which is now in Kaufbeurer Schmiedgasse, in a very central location in the city center, and is funded as part of the federal program “Live Democracy!”.

From now on there should be plenty of space for conversations at the large table in the corner. "We want to bring the debate back from the digital world into reality," said Nißle, who, together with Herbschleb, forms the coordination and specialist office of the partnership for democracy in Kaufbeuren. All offers are designed to be low-threshold, the focus will always be on informal exchange. “Many youth associations are already doing a lot of work in Kaufbeuren. With the corner point, we now have the opportunity to optimally network them and create synergies. "

“This shop will make a big difference in Kaufbeuren. The result is a room like a living room ”, praised Lucia Hacker, chairwoman of the Stadtjugendring Kaufbeuren, the two project managers who had put a lot of time and heart into the premises in the past weeks and months. In addition to events - especially on topics that particularly affect minorities and small groups - workshops, for example with school classes, are also planned. To deepen the topics on the curriculum in a practical manner, that is an important goal of the cornerstone. On top of that, the doors of the corner point are open to everyone who wants to exchange ideas.

The location of the new corner point is ideal, as it is within easy reach of many schoolchildren's way to school who attend Marien-Realschule or Marien-Gymnasium and on top of that in the heart of the old town.

Nißle is certain that the standpoint will make democracy work even more visible.

“We want to show our colors more in the city center.

We want to bring life to the city center.

To this end, we must and will create social offers and meeting areas, ”said Kaufbeuren's Lord Mayor Stefan Bosse, welcoming the new cornerstone.

The corner point as a meeting place will be open from Monday to Friday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
