Following the fighter's fall into the pit yesterday in the Beit Guvrin area, the IDF Spokesman announced today (Thursday) that a team of experts will investigate the incident, along with examining several more incidents of falling into pits during IDF training.
The commander of the Central Command, Maj. Gen. Yehuda Fox, in cooperation with the commander of the land arm, Maj. Gen. Joel Strick, decided to appoint an inspection team, headed by an officer with the rank of colonel.
As mentioned, the soldier fell into a pit 20 meters deep yesterday and was rescued in a light condition.
After the rescue, he was evacuated by helicopter to Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital.
Volunteers from the Etzion-Yehuda Rescue Unit, together with the Yilam team of the Fire and Rescue Division and fighters from Unit 669 of the Air Force, were called in to assist.
