Damascus-SANA
Athar Developmental Foundation, in cooperation with the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor, the governorates of Damascus and its countryside, and the General Authority for Palestinian Refugees, launched today a campaign (Together We Can) to support and facilitate the return of people to their homes in Yarmouk camp in Damascus.
During a press conference, Ibrahim Al-Khatib, Chairman of the Foundation’s Board of Trustees, stated that the Foundation’s headquarters will be equipped in the camp to identify the needs of the returnees and work to meet them and cooperate with the families to overcome obstacles such as contributing to empowering the most vulnerable individuals through training, capacity building, providing professional skills and establishing income-generating projects to create job opportunities for them.
According to Al-Khatib, the Foundation will also work to support livelihoods and identify social needs by conducting an objective field survey to achieve development for all groups and promote safe access to schools, homes and workplaces in cooperation with international organizations operating in Syria.
Director of Social Services in the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor Hanadi Khemy indicated that the ministry supports all institutions and associations that facilitate the safe return of citizens to their homes morally, materially and logistically through cleaning operations, removing rubble and relief.
It is noteworthy that the Athar Developmental Foundation is a private, non-profit organization that was established in 2018 in the governorate of Damascus countryside.
