At least one person was killed and 12 others shot and wounded inside a Kroger supermarket in Collierville, near Memphis, Tennessee, by an attacker who opened fire Thursday afternoon, local authorities have reported.
The attacker also died in circumstances that are not yet clear.
The 12 injured people were taken to nearby hospitals, Collierville Police Chief Dale Lane said at a news conference.
Many of them with serious injuries.
“Today at 1:30 we received a report from an active attacker.
The first patrol arrived on the scene at 1:34.
When the SWAT teams entered the supermarket, they found several people injured, "Lane said.

The police special tactics team searched the supermarket aisle by aisle
in search of the threat.
Authorities believe the shooting was carried out by a single person, who apparently died of a self-inflicted wound.
The identity of the victims has yet to be released.
Nor is it known who the aggressor was.
