On Thursday, students will return to schools after the Tishrei holiday, and there are some issues that have not yet been decided.

In a discussion held with Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, several issues were discussed regarding the fight against the corona virus in the education system.

The main decision made after it is that those aged 12 and over who are not vaccinated will not have to present a negative test as a condition of entering school.

Another question that has arisen, and a final decision has not yet been made, is on the outline that in classrooms in red cities, where 70% of students are vaccinated, the boys will be able to get to schools.

Apparently, the outline is expected to include the third booster portion in grades 11-12, starting October 3rd.

As of Thursday, kindergarten and elementary school children will be required to present a signed statement by their parents that they have performed a quick antigen test that came out negative.

In the primary schools, a "green class" pilot will be expanded, in which an attempt is made to reduce the amount of isolation in the schools as a result of exposure to a verified patient in Corona.

The extensive pilot is expected to last between two and three weeks, in 200 classrooms in elementary schools in red and orange cities.

In the future, the pilot is expected to expand to a thousand classes.

The tests as part of the pilot will be conducted by the sampling companies that won the tender, Pemi Premium and Target Market, with the division between them being geographical.

As part of the outline, in a class where a verified student will be discovered, all other students in the class will be forced to perform seven tests - when at present no decision has been made about the amount of PCR tests the students will perform, whether on the first day only, the first and seventh, or the first and fourth day. On other days, students will perform rapid antigen tests. Those who will be responsible for the implementation of the outline in the educational institutions are the "Corona Trustees", who are to be appointed in each educational institution from the beginning of next month.

The PCR tests will be performed by collecting pens from all the students in the class. If a positive result is obtained in the sample, the whole class will undergo a series of rapid tests, every morning for a week. The student identified as verified will be sent for isolation. The class will continue with the study routine, however whenever it is verified it will be sent for isolation.

It was also decided that if 40% of the students are found positive in the sampling during a week, or alternatively if 60% are found positive for two weeks in a row - the educational institution's participation in the "Green Class" pilot will be stopped..
