"Consolidate power, weaken judicial independence, attack and destroy any political opposition, declare any different voice or opinion an enemy," said Jean Manes, interim charge d'affaires of the United States in El Salvador, during his speech on a television program on Tuesday.

The US diplomat said that it is up to the Salvadorans to determine if with his words he was referring to the Government of that country.
