It's go again?
We had to wait for Art Basel, the largest event in modern and contemporary art, to know the real tempo of the post-Covid market, on a more global scale.
Optimism has returned to the Swiss city on the banks of the Rhine, without the excitement of the early hours or the usual rush of euphoric years.
The joy of reunion, after two years of hiatus, a rather beneficial break.
The desire to resume, more slowly and differently, the marathon of fairs stopped dead by the pandemic, the only alternative being the “on line viewing rooms”, these digital platforms which have enabled galleries to stay in contact with their clients.
But nothing will ever replace the physical approach with the work of art and the direct exchange with the dealer.
These long months of abstinence have taken the full measure, increasing the appetite to buy, with the unique pleasure of the eyes.
