Former Catalan president Carles Puigdemont was arrested this Thursday in Sardinia (Italy) where the pro-independence leader had gone to attend a meeting, according to
El Español
and his lawyer, Gonzalo Boye, and sources from Junts have confirmed to EL PAÍS.
The General Court of the European Union had rejected on July 30 the request for precautionary measures against the suspension of parliamentary immunity that had been raised by Puigdemont and other pro-independence MEPs, Toni Comín and Clara Ponsatí.
