The first batch of Hong Kong Island District Councillors swore an oath on the 10th of this month. The 7 pro-democracy district councilors have not been confirmed on the same day and must submit information for explanation.
After considering additional information, the authorities declared that the oaths of 7 people were invalid after five days. They did not meet the requirements of upholding the Basic Law and allegiance to the SAR. They must leave their posts. They included the chairman of Wanchai District Council Yang Xueying, Wanchai District Councillor Leung Pak Kin, Eastern District Councillors Wei Shaoli, Chen Wingtai, Lai Zixin, So Yiheng , And Peng Zhuoqi, a member of the Southern District Council.
The government gazetted today (24th) that the 7-member seats will be suspended from the day the oath was announced as invalid on the 15th of this month, and they must leave their posts in accordance with Article 21 of the Oaths and Declarations Ordinance (Chapter 11).
In addition, on the morning of the oath, Cai Zhiqiang, who refused to take the oath on the social networking site, had his seat suspended from the day of the oath, that is, the 10th of this month.
