Hanover - For the federal election, the city is providing four constituencies on a leash.
The two constituencies of the city, with an area of around 200 km² and around 530,000 inhabitants, have a significantly denser population structure compared to the two constituencies of Hannover-Land with an area of 10 times the area and around 600,000 inhabitants.
The entire constituency of Hanover counted 846,165 eligible voters in the 2017 federal election, of which around 77% cast their votes.
In relation to 1,000 inhabitants, around 448.2 people are employed in employment contracts that are subject to social insurance contributions.
Most of the jobs that are subject to social security contributions in and around Hanover are in the services sector.
The unemployment rate averaged 8.2% in the election year.
