Könghausen - A 52-year-old sustained serious injuries yesterday afternoon in a so-called “velomobile”.
He had got into the opposite lane in Koenghausen and collided with a team of cars.
It was around 2 p.m. when the serious traffic accident between the recumbent bike and the car occurred in the area where the road joins.
The initial situation: The 52-year-old driver of the “velomobile” drove from Eppishausen to Könghausen and wanted to turn right at the confluence into Zusamstrasse.
According to the Mindelheim police, it is still unclear why he ended up in the opposite lane.
In any case, the recumbent bike collided with the oncoming combination of car and trailer in the intersection area.
52-year-old seriously injured
The driver of the recumbent bike was seriously injured in the collision and had to be flown to a hospital for further treatment and examination by rescue helicopter.
Fortunately, the 64-year-old driver was not injured in the collision.
The total damage was around 8,000 euros.
Because of the accident, the road was closed for about an hour by the volunteer fire brigades in Kirchheim, Eppishausen, Langenneufnach and Könghausen, who also took care of the subsequent cleaning of the roadway.
