After the murder of a gas station cashier in Idar-Oberstein, CSU boss Markus Söder asked the AfD to distance itself clearly from the lateral thinker scene in Germany.

"The AfD stimulates people who are unsure," said Söder in the "final round" of ARD and ZDF.

The lateral thinker scene is not only against the establishment, but is also in parts racist and anti-Semitic, said Söder.

In order to combat this, the protection of the constitution is also required, said Söder.

"A clear stop sign" is needed against those who want to threaten the state.

At the last major television appearance of the top candidates of the seven major parties before the federal election on Sunday, AfD boss Alice Weidel previously refused to speak out against lateral thinkers.

"I basically don't believe in stigmatizing a protest movement," said Weidel.

20-year-old shot at a gas station

On Saturday, a 20-year-old student who was working there was shot dead at a gas station in Idar-Oberstein.

The reason was apparently his request to the perpetrator to observe the mask requirement.

According to the police, the suspect stated in his interrogation that he rejected the corona protective measures.

Domestic politicians from other parties then blamed the AfD for the radicalization of corona deniers.

The AfD made a significant contribution to "hatred and agitation on the streets and in social media have increased enormously," said SPD politician Ute Voigt to the editorial network Germany.

The party "quickly recognized the potential and used the 'lateral thinker' scene for itself."

The AfD had already rejected the allegations.

"Parts of our party-political competition exploit the crime to damage a competitor in the federal election campaign," said top candidate Tino Chupralla.
