Everything points to an election thriller on Sunday.
In the last survey by the opinion research institute Civey for SPIEGEL before the federal election, which is not a forecast for Sunday, the SPD and Union parties are currently so close that no clear front runner can be identified.
In this snapshot, the SPD comes to 25 percent, the Union reaches 23 percent.
The statistical margin of error is 2.5 percentage points.
You can read the background to the Civey method here.
The race is not only open at the top, but also in the midfield: The FDP has 12 percent and the AfD 10 percent.
Only the Greens have established themselves as a clear third place and achieve 16 percent.
The left comes to 6 percent in the poll, which was carried out between September 16 and 23.
From the last measurement point of this survey to the closing of the polling stations on Sunday, almost four days will pass, in which primarily those who are undecided and those who vote tactically can make a decision.
This behavior has been observed in many elections in the recent past.
