The Tel Aviv Magistrate's Court extended the detention of Eran Azulai, who is suspected of trampling the 12-year-old boy on the eve of Yom Kippur, by a police representative:

Tel Aviv Magistrate's Court Judge Adi Hadar today (Thursday) extended the detention of Eran Azulai, 45, from Be'er Ya'akov, on suspicion that he ran 12-month-old Barak Khoury to death on the eve of Yom Kippur.

He is suspected of manslaughter, damage-causing behavior, driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor, failure to maintain distance, reckless driving and actual sabotage.

In a hearing held today, the police representative further noted that Azoulay was driving not only under the influence of alcohol, but also a cannabis-type drug.

"This is a deadly combination that led to these unfortunate circumstances," a police spokesman said, requesting an extension of his detention by four days so that a prosecutor's statement would be filed on Sunday to file an indictment and a request for detention until the end of the proceedings.

On the other hand, the defense attorney requested that Azoulay be released under house arrest, since he could not disrupt his investigation.

Judge Hadar ultimately did not fully accept the police request and extended his detention until tomorrow at noon and demanded that the prosecution file a prosecutor statement as soon as possible.

As you may recall, Barak, 12 and ten months old, rode his bicycle to Petah Tikva to meet his good friend.

When he reached Road 4 near the Givat Shmuel junction, he was run over to death.

The speeding driver, Eran Azoulay, is suspected of driving while driving.
