The stars twinkle above the woodwork: Carpenters' guild distinguishes companies

"Masterful" award as a pleasant thing: During a boat trip on the Tegernsee, the Miesbach-Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen carpentry guild honored member companies.

Tegernsee - After Guild Chief Master Jakob Bscheider and Tegernsee's Vice-Mayor Michael Bourjau had welcomed the guests, Martin Bachhuber, member of the CSU State Parliament in Tölz, emphasized the great importance of quality assurance and further training for employees, especially with regard to accident prevention.

Anselm von Huene briefly discussed the issue of material shortages on the timber market and the price explosion in spring 2021.

He presented a model of how the region could position itself in cooperation with forest farmers in a cooperative wood processing and finishing plant.

At the moment they are looking for a plot of land for this purpose.

The keynote address was given by Peter Aicher, President of the Bavarian Carpenters, Chairman of Holzbau Deutschland and Timber Construction Europe. He emphasized the importance of timber construction for the future. Under the motto “Bavaria wants innovation instead of standstill”, a research program in the field of renewable raw materials was presented in spring. The aim is to increase the use of wood as a building material for public buildings such as kindergartens and multi-storey residential buildings.

The certificates were then presented to the three-, four- and five-star establishments that were present. Like the star system in the hotel industry, the stars are a sign of masterful performance, explained Aicher. Three stars mean: "Masterful services - from competent advice to technical and professional, on-time and clean execution on site." Four stars are awarded to indoor specialist companies that "offer performance and training standards in a special way". Five stems means: "The highest quality offer that is guaranteed by official testing institutions."

Every two years the participating companies are checked for their quality standards by the independent “Certification Construction” in Berlin.

Obermeister Jakob Bscheider was delighted that 35 companies in the Oberland were awarded "Meisterhaft" stars this year, that is eight timber construction companies more than in 2019.
