Shortly before the general election, Fridays for Future is calling for a major climate strike.

Demonstrations are taking place in numerous cities in Bavaria - an overview.

Munich - heat waves, periods of drought, flash floods.

Climate change is advancing, but in the eyes of climate activists, politics is doing too little about it.

That is why Fridays for Future is calling for a global climate strike on September 24th - two days before the federal election * - under the motto “All for the climate”.

Fridays for Future calls for a climate strike: "Upcoming election will determine the future of all of us"

The climate issue must be the deciding factor for the election, because: "The upcoming election will determine the future of all of us," warns Fridays for Future Augsburg * in a press release.

The consequences of the climate crisis are already being felt in Germany and could worsen drastically if action is not taken immediately.

The new IPCC report made this clear.

“The torrential rains in July, with countless fatalities and damage running into billions, have impressively shown that the climate catastrophe is already on our doorstep,” warns the student Rafael Engel.

“But not even that was enough to finally shake politics awake!” Complains the 21-year-old.

The next four years are therefore the last chance to take consistent measures to contain the dramatic consequences and prevent worse.

Climate strike by Fridays for Future: "Seeing the greatest catastrophe with a good eye"

"We as Fridays for Future warn: We can and must no longer hope for the empty promises of politicians listening to lobbyists who knowingly want to let this last grace period pass," the press release continues.

The politicians “steer with sight to the greatest catastrophe that mankind has ever faced and put their hands on their laps.

Nobody should tolerate this constant twiddling of their thumbs when it comes to climate protection ”, adds 17-year-old student Eva Stoffels.

Therefore: regardless of which party or chancellor will govern in the next few years, we need concrete measures, ”demands Ole Horn from Fridays for Future.
