Lebanese President General Michel Aoun called on the United Nations to stand by Lebanon in the face of the continuous threats of the Israeli occupation entity, the latest manifestation of which is the pursuit of oil and gas exploration in Lebanese territorial waters.
In a video speech before the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly, Aoun condemned any attempt to attack Lebanon’s borders by the occupying entity in the exclusive economic zone, once again adhering to Lebanon’s right to its oil and gas wealth in its interior, especially since the awarding of exploration began months ago and then stopped as a result of pressure Its source is no longer a secret to anyone.
Aoun called for the resumption of indirect negotiations to demarcate the southern water borders in accordance with international laws, stressing that Lebanon will not retreat from them and will not accept any compromise on its rights, calling on the international community to stand by him.
Aoun stressed that the Lebanese government was formed according to the constitutional mechanism after a long political crisis, and was committed to implementing urgent and required financial and economic reforms and combating corruption.
Aoun welcomed any international effort to rehabilitate and develop the port of Beirut, leading to its full re-operation in accordance with the laws in force.
Aoun pointed out that the siege and Western economic measures imposed on Syria deprived Lebanon of its vital scope.
