An investigation by Bournemouth University published in the scientific journal Science, which studied fossilized human footprints in New Mexico, found that the presence of humans in North America dates back at least 23,000 years.
The most common theory is that humans crossed from Asia over an ancient land bridge connecting the two continents at the end of the ice age.
