In Eure-et-Loir, inhabitants overwhelmed by the overflow of wind turbines

Anger is mounting among the inhabitants concerned by the projects of new wind farms in Beauce and Perche, which are already well endowed.

The Stop Éolien 28 collective is gaining momentum in Eure-et-Loir to denounce new wind turbine projects in this department, already one of the most covered in France, with 300 wind turbines in operation.

In Dangeau for example, in the south of the department, 6 masts are in the pipeline.

The town hall validated the studies and gave the industrialist permission to use the paths.

To oppose the project, residents have created an association, which is chaired by Édouard de Verdun.

In 2015, the latter took over a historic monument, the Château de Bouthonvilliers, to open it up to visitors and stays.

Selected by the Heritage Lottery, the owner is clear: “If the territory continues to be covered with wind turbines, tourism will suffer”.

Last week, President Emmanuel Macron, visiting a town in Loiret, estimated that no wind turbine should be built if the City Council opposed it.

Dangeau's project is just one of many.

"Within a radius of 10-15 km, we have counted more than 40 wind turbines in the pipeline, around twenty around the village visible from the church," says the president of the association.

According to him, the cessation of activity at the Châteaudun air base has broken a lock for wind turbines, which explains this boom around projects.

New event on Saturday

Last Saturday, a demonstration brought together a hundred people in Dangeau.

“In Fruncé, Saint-Luperce, Villebon, Saint-Denis-des-Puits, and other small villages, developers are building wind turbines with impunity, less than 1000 m from homes.

Some are announced at 240 m high, the height of the Montparnasse tower ”, denounces Hubert de la Raudière, president of the Association for the protection of landscapes and the environment between Beauce and Perche, one of the most active in this collective Stop Éolien 28 which brings together 5 other local associations.

Last week, President Emmanuel Macron visiting Illiers-Combray blurted out in front of local elected officials and the prefect that no wind turbine should be built if the City Council opposed it.

"This stance gives us hope, but the industrialists know the inner workings and we know that they will appeal against the mayors who oppose them", deplores Hubert de la Raudière.

The Stop Éolien 28 collective calls for a new gathering in La Bazoche-Gouet, in the Perche, this Saturday, September 25, at 5 p.m.
