He took advantage of odd jobs in the cells to do some business.

A 24-year-old man was arrested this week for passing several cell phones and cannabis in small quantities to inmates at the Porcheville (Yvelines) juvenile prison.

This maintenance agent for a service provider intervened for small electrical repairs or leaks, which allowed him to come into contact with young prisoners and carry out exchanges.

These interventions were regular, the huge detention center housing more than 400 minors, over 40,000 square meters.

Sales made with prepaid cards

The transactions were paid in particular by the families of the detainees, via “PCS”, these prepaid cards by means of coupons found in tobacco shops.

A technique appreciated by crooks because it guarantees a certain anonymity and which allowed the smuggler to sell phones at 100 or 200 euros each.

It was with a report at the end of August that investigators from the Mantes-la-Jolie police station began their surveillance, before a telephone tapping enabled the suspect to be apprehended.

The individual was arrested in possession of 12 grams of cannabis concealed in his clothes and several empty telephone boxes were discovered during the searches of his home.

Heard by the police, he admitted the facts and was presented this Friday to the court of Versailles.
