Director of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service, Sergey Naryshkin, confirmed that what happened in Afghanistan, in terms of the hasty departure and flight of its government in the face of the Taliban movement, is the result of the destructive US policy in this country.
In a television interview with Russia Today, Naryshkin said that US administration and intelligence officials "were aware of the real situation in Afghanistan, but were reluctant to admit the truth," referring to Washington's failure in its attempt to impose its own social development model in Afghanistan.
Naryshkin pointed out that the events in Afghanistan confirm that the United States is no longer able to play the role of the world's hegemon.
The Russian Foreign Ministry had confirmed earlier that what happened in Afghanistan proved the complete impotence of the United States and NATO as a guiding force and as a military-political bloc claiming its leadership role in securing the world order, noting that Washington and NATO were so depleted that they chose to leave their cars and helicopters to those who used them against them.
