Starnberg - She doesn't come close to the age of the Rolling Stones or the Beatles, but she has been rocking the stage for around 30 years. We're talking about the Francis Band. The music group was founded in 1991 as a joint project of the Franziskus School and the curative educational day care center. On the occasion of the 50th birthday of the Franziskus School, the Francis band presented their new CD last Friday and created a good atmosphere.
On September 9, 50 years ago, the starting shot was given for a remarkable inclusion project: the foundation of the Franziskus School and the curative day care center. At that time they were still based in Garatshausen. Today you can find the school center, which focuses on the intellectual development of children and young people, on the Starnberg Zeppelin promenade. The sponsor of the school support center is Lebenshilfe Starnberg, which is also celebrating its 50th anniversary.
The corona pandemic is a tough time for the Franziskus School and the therapeutic day care center. Both institutions are attended by children and adolescents with intellectual disabilities, developmental delays, autism spectrum disorders or seizure disorders. For them, the pandemic-related school closure meant not only the loss of a constant learning environment, but also the loss of the personal relationship to teachers and supervisors, which is so important for their promotion.
Accordingly, the new CD from the Francis band is an expression of double joy. On the one hand, because the school is running back to normal. On the other hand, because the school has a milestone birthday to celebrate.
It took over a year for the record to be finished. The school's own music room was quickly converted into a recording studio, in which band leader Erik Berthold meticulously recorded each of the 15 songs together with young students from the secondary and vocational school.
The result can be seen. Regardless of whether it is Franziskus / Machtlfingblues or your own school jubilee song, the songs of the Francis band are bursting with joie de vivre and musical enthusiasm. The production of the LP is financed purely from donations. The production of the anniversary CD devoured around 10.00 euros. Once again the Lions Club Starnberger See König LudwigII was an important helper for the realization of the project.
In addition to the CD presentation, some works of art from the “Mia kean zamm” spray campaign were also presented.
As part of a project, two vocational school classes at the Franziskus School dedicated themselves to the topic of “Street Art”.
With the action, the pupils want to draw attention to the importance of an inclusive society.
The campaign was also accompanied by its own spray campaign on the Starnberg church square.
At the end of the celebrations in the in-house school auditorium, each student received the brand new anniversary CD from the Francis band.
