The year of the bicentenary of Napoleon's death comes to an end.
And yet a new wave of exhibitions arrives, well after the anniversary date of May 5, 1821. Several exhibitions are worth a visit: at the Mobilier national, at the Château de Fontainebleau, at the Monnaie de Paris, at the Couvent Sainte-Cécile in Grenoble, at the Musée des Avelines in Saint-Cloud or at the Maison Bonaparte in Ajaccio.
Others are extended to the Caillebotte property (Yerres) or to the National Archives.
The only shadow in this abundance of demonstrations bordering on overdose (120 to 150 book releases too!), The failure of the blockbuster exhibition at the Grande Halle de la Villette.
It required a coordination of scientific authorities, generated loans to furnish an unprecedented area of 1,800 m2 and cost 3.65 million euros.
Yet its attendance has not exceeded 135,000 visitors to date.
Far from the tidal wave that one would expect (at least 500,000 to 600,000 people) for this large-scale operation
