The Echinger BRK will soon be one of the “on-site helpers”.

Now the matching vehicle has been inaugurated - which already has an interesting name.

Eching

- The helper on-site projects (HvO) of the Red Cross and the first responder services of the volunteer fire brigades are blessed, meaningful and life-saving, with which an important gap in the emergency care within the blue light family will be closed in Eching from October can.

In the words of district readiness leader Stefan Wythe, this represents a small but important piece of the puzzle in the rescue service and at the same time the Red Cross idea that is lived.

Within the Freising district association, the HvO is already established in the BRK groups in Moosburg and Au.

Pastors give the vehicle the blessing

At a ceremony framed by champagne, coffee and cake at the Echinger Rotkreuz station in Waagstrasse in the presence of all three mayors, BRK district manager Albert Söhl, Wythe and, as a “neighbor”, Stefan Maidl, commander of the FFW Eching, was the first BRK readiness “helper on site” vehicle inaugurated. The two local chaplains, the Catholic priest Martin Guggenbiller and his evangelical brother Markus Krusche, gave the church blessing to the used, very well-preserved car with the registration number FS-RK 79. Above all, they asked God's blessing for the helpers and the people to be saved.

The car was equipped with the necessary equipment - such as radio and a special signal system, or a blue light on the roof - and is visually recognizable as part of the BRK fleet.

"Very nice, like a new vehicle," said Albert Söhl.

No. 41/79/2 has even been given a nickname by the BRKers: after the previous owner from Baden-Württemberg was Mr. Oswald, the car was quickly renamed "Ossi".

A separate, embroidered badge was created for the HvO project for the new facet in the spectrum of the rescue service and also presented to the guests of honor in a framed form as a souvenir.

The thanks of Eching's BRK standby leader Matthias Beth went to the community, which unanimously gave the green light to the introduction of the “local helpers” pilot project at the end of 2020 and also provided financial support for it.

However, thanks to great voluntary work, this seems rather modest: 15,000 euros for the initial vehicle purchase and 2000 euros for annual maintenance.

Previously, in the spring, the FFW Dietersheim's application for the first responder had also been approved.

Nothing works without rescue workers

The rescue workers who handle the emergency care as “on-site helpers” deserved the very special thanks from Beth as well as from Mayor Sebastian Thaler. "You are the most important thing," emphasized Beth, and Stefan Wythe made it clear that society would be faced with huge problems if there were no people doing this unpaid and unaffordable service in their free time. At the moment there are a good 15 volunteers who have the necessary training and further education.

After successfully completing the pilot phase, which can probably begin in autumn, a second car is to be purchased.

The aim is to ensure that the two-helper system works as well as possible, because both helpers who are on standby can drive directly to the scene independently of each other.

Further volunteer BRK helpers are always welcome.

"We are always on the lookout there," said platoon leader and BRK local group leader Marcel Huber.
