Kaufering - In order for the Red Hocks to score their first points in the third league game of the new Bundesliga season, they have to go a step further despite the recent increase.
Because tomorrow, Saturday, September 25th, the team of coach Markus Heinzelmann will start at 7 p.m. at record champions UHC Weißenfels.
But the boys from Bavaria can certainly hope for a surprise, because the UHC is not yet exuding the usual dominance after the Corona break. At least that's what the results so far suggest: A wafer-thin 5: 6 in Schriesheim, where it was still a draw five minutes before the end, was followed by a scoring exchange of blows against the Dragons Bonn. The Dragons had equalized a 7:10 deficit in the last few minutes and saved themselves in extra time, where national player Sascha Herlt secured the extra point for the Weißenfelsern. The performance of Matthias Siede, who scored six points in this game, was also outstanding.
The Red Hocks could use someone like him after the Reds had their problems in the games against Chemnitz and DHfK Leipzig, especially on the offensive. This is also shown in the table, which certifies the fewest hits (nine) of all Bundesliga teams after two games. Nevertheless, the performance curve in the 4: 5 against the Floor Fighters Chemnitz clearly showed up. "We now want to build on that and achieve a close result against a strong opponent," hopes Pascal Rieß, who made his Bundesliga debut against Leipzig. The upswing was also noticeable in the training sessions, and so tactical details in particular were refined during the previous training week.
But it is also clear: The task in Saxony-Anhalt without its own cheering fans behind them and with a squad that is probably not fully occupied should not be an easy one.
Nevertheless, the Kauferinger warehouse has resolved to enter the game with courage and creativity in order to possibly trip the big favorite.
