The project received a total of 5.6 million yuan from the Recycling Fund, of which more than 1,000 cleaners and 43 recyclers benefited.

Successfully recycled 40 million plastic bottles
The "Small Bottle Reward" was initiated by "Waste Free Drink" and sponsored by the Recycling Fund. The target of the project is building cleaners and street recyclers, with a subsidy of 5 cents for a recycled plastic bottle.
It is planned to collect about 40 million plastic bottles between October last year and August this year.

The group said that as the plan was carried out, the degree of participation was getting higher and higher. For example, the collection of 179.75 tons of plastic bottles last month was more than 48 times higher than that in the first month of the plan, and it accounted for the PET plastic bottle recycling rate in the market. The group also stated that the plan was originally scheduled to last for one year. However, due to its unexpected success, the subsidy had been distributed earlier, so the plan ended earlier this month.
The group believes that compared with other plastic bottle recycling methods, including "Green in the District", the "Local Bottle Reward" obtains a high recycling volume at a low price, and the average cost of collecting a plastic bottle is only 8 cents.
The results of the plan also show that the places with the highest recycling volume are small-scale material recycling workshops, such as recycling shops.
The group explained that small recycling workshops that provide local sales, collection and storage of recyclables are also the source of most of the recyclables in the pilot project.
The group urges the government and property management companies to find places for small recycling workshops in or near the properties, and provide assistance to cleaners and recyclers to set up temporary or mobile recycling spaces.
