The Ministry of Culture's plan to start lollipop tests in elementary schools soon after the summer holidays is not working in the Weilheim-Schongau district: Almost all schools are postponing the start.

The Ministry of Culture's plan to start lollipop tests in elementary schools soon after the summer holidays is not working in the Weilheim-Schongau district: Almost all schools are postponing the start.

District

- The new school year has barely started, and the trouble at the schools is inevitable.

The lollipop tests in primary schools should have been running since Monday.

This is out of the question because of organizational and technical problems.

Corona in Bavaria: Lollipop tests in elementary schools - "Administratively, that's crazy"

As one of the few schools in the district, the Obersöchering primary school managed to start the lollipop test on Wednesday.

And?

Everything went perfectly.

Rector Pamela Führmann can hardly stop laughing.

It's more of a tortured laugh.

The Ministry of Culture's schedule alone: “completely unrealistic”.

“From an administrative point of view, this is amazing, we only managed to do it through a lot of extra work.” And that, even though Obersöchering is a mini-school with just 79 students and four classes.

Problems with lollipop tests in schools: Mails to parents end up in the spam folder

What has happened so far sounds like a chain of unfortunate events: material and data only arrived at the school last Friday - so no time to prepare.

The parents grant notification of the test results by email.

However, the return email that needs to be confirmed ends up in the spam folder of many.

"On Wednesday we talked to parents on the phone all day and looked for emails," said Führmann.

Incidentally, the reporting portal collapses on the same day.

The first results do not arrive until the evening.

Stick barcodes on tubes - that's what the teachers do.

Enter the registration codes in the online portal: the rector does this with the secretary.

The QR code does not work yet.

So the 14-digit code is typed by hand.

For all students who participate.

There is joy.

Lollipop tests in schools: parental consent is missing

By the way: ten elementary school students in Obersöchering are not included in the pool tests.

You bring a current negative test result with you three times a week.

And that, although at least one thing should be noted positively: "The handling of the lollipop test is easier, and it is quick," says Pamela Führmann.

If it looks like this on a small scale, how does it all work at a huge elementary school like Schongau?

Not yet.

"Numerous declarations of consent are still missing and the parents' reaction ranges from pleased to total refusal," says headmistress Ute Meub, who is not very enthusiastic.

Parents are particularly bothered by the data transfer.

Lollipop tests in Bavaria: administrative staff "far beyond the limit of their resilience"

Even on the part of the external organization, many things are not yet working reliably. "This senseless time pressure brings school administrators, teachers and, above all, the administrative staff far beyond the limits of their resilience at the beginning of the school year." in which infected children sit in class for the rest of the school morning ”.

The pool tests at the Alfons Peter elementary school in Peiting have also been postponed by a week “for organizational reasons”.

Even if the pool tests are new, “and new things first make more and more work”, Rector Ursula Dölling also sees advantages for the students: “It will certainly be easier for the children if they only have to suck on chopsticks like a lollipop . “How it actually will be: That will become apparent from Monday, just like in Schongau.
