In Nuremberg, the number of postal voters is higher than ever.

But some might get into trouble now.

Nuremberg - The Bundestag election will take place on Sunday (September 26th).

But many citizens of the city of Nuremberg save themselves going to the ballot box.

There have never been so many postal voters as this year, as

Nuremberg: Around 150,000 applications are expected on Friday

Apparently the city of Nuremberg assumes around 150,000 applications by this evening.

Already last week there were signs of a rush: By Thursday (September 16) almost 144,000 applications for postal votes had been received by the Nuremberg electoral office, as electoral office chief Wolf Schäfer explained at a press conference.

"This is a new record by far," he said.

By the way: Our Bavaria newsletter informs you about all developments and results from the Free State about the upcoming federal election - and of course about all other important stories from Bavaria.

There are a total of around 335,000 eligible voters in Nuremberg.

However, around a third of adults are not allowed to vote because they do not have a German passport.

Authorities have already predicted that the percentage of postal voters will exceed 35 percent this year.

According to the city of Nuremberg, the percentage of postal voters was 14.6 percent in 1994.

Nuremberg: Better to go to the electoral office in person

The postal voting documents can still be requested until 6:00 p.m. today, but Schäfer advises against it.

Due to the fact that the Bundestag elections are close at hand, citizens should rather submit the application in person to the electoral office and ideally fill it out directly.

Because the risk of the postal route is borne by the voter himself.

The voting letter must be received by 6:00 p.m. on Sunday.

Otherwise the vote does not count.

If you want to be on the safe side, you should put the ballot in person or hand it in at the election office.

If you have applied for postal voting *, you can normally no longer tick the box at the polling station, only if you can show a white ballot paper from the postal voting documents.

Nuremberg: Didn't get postal voting documents?

Call!

Anyone who applies for postal voting documents but has not yet received them should “report to the electoral office immediately”, according to a press release from September 23rd.

The telephone number is: 0911/2 31-33 50. Or you can collect the postal voting documents personally at Unschlittplatz 7a.
