Derek Shubin was charged with three felony counts in April • Among other things, he claims that the conduct of the state was inappropriate, and that the court allowed the defense to select "witnesses with prejudices"

Derek Shubin, a former Minneapolis police officer convicted of the murder of George Floyd, filed an appeal in Minnesota District Court yesterday (Thursday) with his conviction, with 14 complaints concerning the conduct of his trial earlier this year.

Chauvin, who was sentenced in June to more than 22 years in prison for Floyd's murder, accused the state, among other things, of misconduct.

Shubin raised 14 claims, the main ones being:

• The court "exercised its discretion" in rejecting the defense's request for a change of venue, grouping the jury for the entire trial, continuing the hearing and a new hearing.

• "There was misconduct" of the lawsuit, which the plaintiffs committed on behalf of the state.

• The court's decision not to allow Morris Hall, who was with Floyd on the night of his death, to testify.

• The court's decision to deny "presentation of cumulative evidence in relation to the use of force".

• The failure of the court when it allowed the defense to "choose a jury with clear biases."

• The fact that the court allowed to aggravate the additional charge of third-degree murder.

• The court's decision to restrict and "reduce" the confession regarding evidence of Floyd's arrest in May 2019.

• The court's denial of "the defense's request for a new hearing after the verdict after the misconduct of the jury."

George Floyd,

The death of African-American Floyd in May 2020 shocked the United States and the world - igniting a wave of huge protests. His knee was firmly on the neck of Floyd, who begged him to let go as he shouted the words, "I can not breathe."

Following the incident, as mentioned, in various US states masses took to the streets, and during the protests, vandalism was taken against federal institutions and statues of figures considered to have racist backgrounds were vandalized.
