The Marie-Pettenbeck-Schule in Wartenberg got off to a good start in the new school year, also because full face-to-face teaching is now possible again.

Headmaster Michael Braun commented on the situation before the school association meeting: “Thank God it is no longer that rough.

It's getting more moderate in a way. "

Wartenberg - The "nose drill test" will continue to be done three times a week.

There are 212 pupils in elementary school and another 295 in middle school.

The elementary school had eleven classes, the middle school 13 classes.

What the headmaster had already indicated weeks ago is now coming true: The school has one of the largest classes far and wide: "23, x pupils per class on average, that's a lot of wood."

There are 15 new teachers at the school.

“That makes it exciting,” said Braun.

It is nice that a remedial teacher has been assigned, three social pedagogues.

The school has procured the “School Manager” program and, according to the Rector, is working with it more intensively.

It also remains that, as an exception, a classroom will remain free.

Which does not mean that it is locked and not used.

It is of course available for activities, especially in winter when the children are not able to get out so well.

Braun: "That is also very good for us."

School association procures ventilation technology

In its meeting, the school association also unanimously decided to purchase air filter systems with UV lamps.

Fixed devices are installed in the fifth and sixth grades, and mobile devices are available from the 7th grade onwards.

Melanie Falzetta (Grüne Wartenberg) in particular campaigned for devices with UV filters.

The prospective teacher called the devices with mechanical filters “incredibly loud”.

In doing so, she confirmed what has already been reported elsewhere: In Ottenhofen, for example, the devices often have to be switched off during lessons.

In addition, the maintenance effort of the UV devices is significantly lower.

The replacement of the mechanical filter is an issue in itself, as the used filters are hazardous waste and may only be changed under protective clothing, which moreover has to happen annually and is likely to get left to the caretaker.

According to reports in the assembly, however, the UV lamp lasts around six years.

In addition, the UV devices are significantly smaller.

In fact, the mechanical devices are the size of two refrigerators on top of each other.

In Wartenberg, two devices per room would have to be procured due to the size of the room.

All in all, the decision was made quickly.

The market in Wartenberg procures the equipment for the elementary school itself, as material expense bearer for this type of school, the school association assembly approved the installation unanimously.

However, Hans Wiesmaier (CSU Fraunberg) made it clear that it should be joint procurement.

Headmaster Michael Braun had to report quiet criticism: "Change classes," he said.

In fact, the school becomes a victim of the situation: Because the sixth grades could not be divided, one classroom is less equipped with permanently installed equipment.

The systems for the fifth and sixth grades are subsidized, there is no funding for the higher grades.

In general: the rooms!

The small hall at the Strogenhalle is used for the afternoons with 162 pupils, and Braun recognized very well: “Much to the chagrin of the clubs.” However, as Braun further made clear, they can breathe a sigh of relief elsewhere: the school gymnasium will soon be back To be available.

That was something that Mayor Christian Pröbst explicitly confirmed later in the meeting.

Club sports will then be able to start normally again, according to Pröbst, who added the technical side of school operations to the headmaster's lecture: The windows in the cafeteria are a concern for the school authorities and require maintenance.

According to the mayor's report, the markings at the traffic training garden have been renewed.

Tree maintenance work is due as well as other outdoor work.

Praise went to the caretaker Michael Brenninger, who has all these things in mind, such as the small pond area, which, according to Pröbst, also has work to be done.

The wifi was installed and approved during the summer holidays.

Pröbst: “It's running.” The associated teacher equipment had also been procured, reported the mayor, who is also known to be the chairman of the school association.

When asked by Josef Sedlmeier (CSU), he added that the vandalism problem is no longer as massive as it was before.

As reported, there had been serious discussions about surveillance, but this should not be done now.

But headlights with motion detectors are being thought about.
