Damascus countryside-SANA
The Damascus Countryside Governorate is working on implementing development projects that are commensurate with the production and nature of each region and generate revenues that support and improve its service and development reality and create job opportunities for its residents.
The director of rural development in the province, Engineer Ahmed Kanaan, explained in a statement to SANA’s delegate that development projects are approved and supported by the Ministry of Local Administration and Environment, where 595 million pounds were allocated for direct projects and 1.255 billion pounds for new projects.
The implementation rates vary from one project to another according to Kanaan, as the first phase of the storage and refrigeration unit project has been completed in the town of Rankous and the second is under announcement, while the completion rate of the apricot jam and Qamar al-Din production plant project in Yabroud has reached 45 percent. The building of the dairy and cheese production project in Hajira in order to start production, and shops have been prepared in Bakasim for investment.
The new projects vary between being announced, ratified, and direct in the governorate, as mentioned by Kanaan, including a factory for the production of dairy and cheese, another for the production of jams and mortar materials from local products, a gymnasium, a cafe, shops, a playground, a storage and cooling unit, a condolence and wedding hall.
