Damascus-SANA

Repeated warnings issued by many human rights and international organizations about the catastrophic humanitarian crisis caused by the continuous Saudi aggression on Yemen for years, but to no avail.

Official statistics indicate that about a thousand Yemenis, including children, die every week from starvation or lack of food, while international organizations, led by the United Nations, paint a bleak and worse picture of the millions of Yemenis who are threatened with real famine, and only one step separates them from it, according to the World Food Program.

The program once again issued warnings that five million people in Yemen are on the verge of a famine that may sweep the country, while another 16 million people are marching towards that famine, indicating in a report to the United Nations General Assembly that with high food prices and a blatant shortage of fuel, the matter would be catastrophic.

The Executive Director of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) explained the extent of the catastrophe that Yemen is experiencing as a result of the Saudi aggression, which has entered its seventh year, noting that two million and 300 thousand children under the age of five suffer from severe malnutrition, including 400,000 children who are at imminent death.

And while the United Nations, during a high-level meeting yesterday on the humanitarian crisis in Yemen, called on donor countries to provide more aid so that they are not forced to reduce humanitarian aid to this country, famine is exacerbating among Yemenis and in light of the continuation of the Saudi aggression and the blockade imposed on the ports and the refusal to allow entry Relief and medical aid Millions of people and children are waiting for their deaths in a country that is silently witnessing the largest humanitarian disaster in the world.

It is noteworthy that the Saudi aggression against Yemen began on the twenty-sixth of March 2015, leaving thousands of dead and injured, and extensive damage to infrastructure, which left the world's largest humanitarian disaster in light of a shameful international silence.
