A gas station cashier at a Supol gas station in Nuremberg says: “If they haven't bought anything yet, we say they have to go.” But it's not always that easy.

Mask refusers are a new type of customer that you have to be prepared for.

If the customer doesn't want to put on a mask, the situation can escalate quickly, an employee of an Avia petrol station in Nuremberg told

“We don't have long discussions,” says the gas station attendant.

First you would write down the license plate number, in the worst case call the police.

The Avia gas station attendant describes the problems since day one.

Around nine out of ten cases are "loose", and sometimes customers just forgot the mask in the car.

Others would react abusive, insulting and aggressive.

Nuremberg: Mask refusers are a particular challenge at petrol stations

The mask requirement in retail has been in effect in Bavaria since the end of April 2020. It is easier for operators of restaurants, hotels, shops or hotels to turn away customers without a mask.

The Avia employee describes the problem: "The problem is that the customers have the goods outside in the car." In such cases, the customer cannot be turned away - the invoice is still pending.
