The Stake Association was founded 32 years ago. The most familiar picture is that the June 4th candlelight party was held in Victoria Park for many years.

More than a year after the "Minato National Security Law" came into effect, several members of the Stake Standing Committee faced prosecution. This was the first time the Hong Kong government cited the crime of "inciting others to subvert state power."

Today (25th), the remaining stake representatives passed the dissolution and officially ended.

Established in 1989 in solidarity with the inland pro-democracy movement, it has gone through 32 years until a dispute arose and was investigated and prosecuted by the National Security Department. At present, many core members of the stake are in prison.

In the past, the candlelight of Victoria Park was like a sea, or it will stay in history forever.

On May 21, 1989, Hong Kong saw the first historic one-million-person parade, during which the stake was announced.

The full name of the Stake is "Hong Kong Citizens Support Patriotic Democracy Movement Federation". It was established in solidarity with the patriotic democracy movement of the 1989 pro-democracy movement in the Mainland. The founder was the late Situ Hua.

At the turn of the spring and summer of 1989, a democratic protest movement broke out in China. On May 20, the Chinese government declared martial law in Beijing. The next day there was the first one-million-people parade in Hong Kong. The stake was announced during the parade.

On May 28, the Stake hosted the "Global Chinese Parade". A total of 1.5 million people took to the streets in Hong Kong. This was the first large-scale demonstration in Hong Kong with more than one million people responding.

Release the pro-democracy activists, rehabilitate the 1989 pro-democracy movement, hold the slaughter accountable, end the one-party dictatorship, and build a democratic China

Since 1990, the Stake Association has held a mourning party on June 4 every year. The scene is like a sea of candles.

Unchanging wind and rain, holding the June 4th party this year, the candlelight disappeared for the first time in Victoria Park

Since the June 4th Incident, the Alliance of Stakes has held a candlelight evening in Victoria Park every year on the evening of June 4 since 1990. The storm has not changed for many years.

In the past, the number of participants in candlelight evenings fluctuated considerably, and was once criticized for "showing etiquette as etiquette." Some people were also dissatisfied with some of the network leaders of the stake and were boycotted by student representatives.

However, the June 4th party is still well-known year after year, and is described by the international community as an important indicator of "one country, two systems."

According to figures released by the conference, the June 4th rallies with the most people participated in 2014 and 2019, with 180,000 people.

However, for two consecutive years, the police have opposed the Stake’s June 4th Candlelight Gala in Victoria Park on the grounds of the new crown pneumonia epidemic. The government has warned that it is illegal to attend unauthorized gatherings.

June 4th this year was the first June Fourth after the "Hong Kong National Security Law" took effect. Police deployed defenses in Causeway Bay and Tin Hau. For the first time, there was no more candles at the Victoria Park Stadium on June Fourth, which was very different from the previous scenes.

He was charged with "inciting others to knowingly participate in an unauthorized assembly" and "knowingly participating in an unauthorized assembly".
