Back in May 1989, the Beijing Student Movement was spreading across the country, stirring up the hearts of the people in Hong Kong.

At that time, Aniu was the contractor of the site and cared about politics as an ordinary citizen.

At that time, the Federation of Students was on a hunger strike outside the Xinhua News Agency in Wanchai. He drove to the scene during his spare time. He wanted to put down a few paper packets of Vitasoy and said, "The youngsters, hold on," and then left silently.

In the early morning of May 20th, the then Prime Minister Li Peng announced that Beijing would implement martial law and a large number of People's Liberation Army troops entered the city.

Typhoon signal No. 8 was hoisted in Hong Kong that day, and tens of thousands of citizens still braved the heavy rain. In the evening, they gathered at Victoria Park in Causeway Bay and marched to the Xinhua News Agency to petition.

Aniu, who was watching the news in front of the TV, was "playing cards" with his friends. After learning about the news of the parade, he rushed to the finish line and joined the rally. The water can't leak, the day is full of heavy rains, Queen's Road East is full of people, and Uncle Hua (Situ Hua) talks to the end.

He still remembered that after the crowd dissipated, he ran into his wife, "I'm not okay, I want to go out and do something."

On May 20, 1989, citizens took to the streets under heavy rain and marched to the Xinhua News Agency to petition.

Invited by Li Yongda and Uncle Hua to join the stake

After that, Aniu went to the Queen Elizabeth Stadium next to Xinhua News Agency every night to gather with a group of grass-roots citizens to set up a "Democracy Channel" to care about the development of Beijing's student movement. "On May 21, 2 million citizens took to the streets, and the Stake Association announced its establishment.

He laughed and said that he didn't know about the stake at the time, and he was only concerned about the situation in Tiananmen Square.

The stake was founded by the late Democratic Party veteran Situ Hua and elected its first standing committee on June 21.

Cheng Jienan, then representative of the Federation of Education, and Huang Weixiong, the former chairman of the Federation of Civil Service Unions, joined the Stake and withdrew shortly after joining the Stake.

In this movement, Aniu met the democrats Li Yongda, Liu Qianshi, and Uncle Hua.

He said that because of his active participation in solidarity, he was considered to have high mobilization ability and was invited to participate in the stake by-election. He successfully joined the stake and became the first standing committee member and was responsible for the work of the organization.

In 1990, at the Six Gardens Victoria Park Candlelight Rally, the 130,000 condolence books collected were signed and cremated at the end of the conference.

Create a candlelight tribute to the victims of the Romanian victims

The stake has been criticized for many years for "showing etiquette as etiquette", but many pioneering activities actually came from the core member Aniu.

With a lot of ideas, he said that in the first year he proposed to recruit volunteers for support, he realized that in order to keep them, he must hold regular activities.

He proposed to Uncle Hua to launch a "Send Love to Qincheng" before Christmas, collect signatures from citizens, and send Christmas cards to political prisoners in Qincheng Prison.

Every June 4th Weiyuan Garden, the picture is deeply rooted in the hearts of the people.

Aniu said that the practice of mourning the victims with foreign candles first originated from another gathering.

In December 1989, the Romanian Communist regime fell. To mourn the people who were killed by the dictator Shousis’s ancient suppression, a candlelight party was held in Chater Garden in the name of "Democracy Station."

At that time, about 500 to 600 people attended the rally. "The first time I saw a scene was very beautiful and very touching." Uncle Hua was also there that night, "I said that the scene is right, June 4th is in candlelight, it is solemn and solemn. simple."

Afterwards, the Stake Standing Committee adopted A Niu's suggestion and lit up the sea of candles in Victoria Park.

Someone once described that the sea of candles shines on people's conscience and freedom.

Conceived the New Year's Eve stalls to promote the promotion of Uncle Hua selling characters

It is also the idea of A Niu that the Stake Victoria Park’s New Year’s Eve stalls tradition.

He believes that there is a lot of people on the New Year's Eve. "If only a few thousand mosquitoes are released, the propaganda will be so big, and the leaflets will be counted." So in 1990, he put down several Lunar New Year fairs in Victoria Park, Sha Tin and Tsuen Wan.

In the first year, the pro-democracy books and the statue of the Goddess of Democracy were sold, attracting many citizens to snap up their purchases. The response was very enthusiastic.

In the evening of New Year’s 30th, Aniu said that the New Year’s Eve income was 400,000 yuan, which shows the level of support from the public.

The following year, the stake again stationed in the Victoria Park for the New Year’s Eve. Aniu still remembered that Uncle Hua was annoyed by him, "The book is sold out, what do you do?" He replied, "I'm not worried, Uncle Hua, you have to sell the words Hey, I started to write couplets afterwards. The initial bid price was one or two thousand per piece. It was very sharp. All were donations to the stake.” The stake held an event, and the citizens responded with a hundred responses, and Aniu’s heart was clear. It didn’t win the hearts of the people, but because the suppression was too cruel that day, there was a group to help everyone out that day, and everyone agreed with the group.”

At the beginning of September this year, the National Security Department seized the June Fourth Memorial Hall, and police officers took the sign away.

The original objection to the dissolution of the decision to change the decision to reduce the burden on prisoners

Year after year mourning for June 4th, the activities are "same and unchangeable", democratic and vigorous struggles, never Don't forget the June 4th parade, candlelight rallies, loving Christmas cards, and New Year's Eve at Victoria Park.

Aniu, who has been in the stake for ten years, said that his actions over the years were "too rigid" and he didn't want to stay any longer. He also felt that the Standing Committee could inject new strength and left the Standing Committee in 1999. "In the past two decades, , I never look back, and I won’t go back to the past meetings.” Although he no longer participates in the Standing Committee, he is still a member of the stake, and he has been actively participating in June 4th activities, and never absent from the Victoria Park assembly every year.

The usual rituals, the unchanging organization in Aniu's mouth, decided to disband with the implementation of the "Hong Kong National Security Law" and re-exist.

The National Security Office of the police accused the Stake as a "foreign agent." Earlier this month, the June Fourth Memorial Hall was sealed up, 2.2 million yuan in assets were frozen, and seven members of the Standing Committee were arrested for violating the National Security Law. Allegations of "inciting others to subvert state power" are all imprisoned or remanded.

Earlier, the stake held a special membership meeting to resolve the dissolution. Aniu once expressed his opposition to the dissolution of the stake. When interviewed in mid-September, he also insisted on voting against it. There are laws to follow. If we don’t dissolve, it’s a violation of the National Security Law. Everyone knows it’s called the National Security Law.”

A week later, Li Zhuoren and He Junren, who were serving sentences in prison, jointly and publicly called on representatives of member organizations to support the dissolution of the stake, and Aniu changed his mind.

He explained that considering the arrests of several members of the Standing Committee and the public appeals of the two, "If the dissolution is decided, it can enable him to be released as soon as possible, reduce his charge, and support the dissolution."

Aniu said that he feels sad about the dissolution of the stake, but in the future, he can think about how to bring the issues of concern to the public in other ways.

Pessimistic June 4th history may be obliterated in Hong Kong, but believe that the world will not forget

32 years ago, Aniu witnessed the birth of the stake, and now he personally bid farewell, "It’s a sad day when the day comes." He said, "I joined the stake in 1989, and I have been there. 97. It’s not until now.” Even after losing the stake, he felt that in the future, he could think about the form in which issues of concern could be presented to the public, and how to mobilize the masses to participate. “There was no FDC before 2003. In 1989, There was no stake before."

In the torrent of time, it is easy to refuse to forget a piece of history.

He said frankly that Hong Kong society is not what it used to be. The national security law is volatile and can no longer speak freely. Public mourning for June 4th is risky. Schools promote national education. New generations will not necessarily know the June 4th incident. It is even more difficult for the history to pass from generation to generation.

"Parents may have taken the children away; if the parents are afraid of things, they will not talk about the history, because after you have spoken, you have a good understanding of the small way, and he is speaking righteously and is leading the way for history. Opportunities break the law. As a parent, I don’t even think about it.”

He predicts that the history of June 4th may gradually disappear in Hong Kong, and he cannot help but feel pessimistic about it, but the world will never forget June 4th.

He said that if Hong Kong bans everything, he will insist on mourning alone. "Anyway, you have your own way. You can make people who pass by feel that you are in mourning. That is enough."

Aniu said that if Hong Kong had banned everything, he would insist on personal mourning for June 4th.
