Representatives of Maduro did not arrive at the dialogue this Friday

 The Unitary Platform that integrates the opposition forces of Venezuela in the dialogue with the government of President Nicolás Maduro reported that the official representatives did not arrive at the appointment they had planned this Friday in Mexico City to begin a new stage in the process.

"In the absence of the delegation of the regime today, the delegation of the Unitary Platform reiterates its commitment to advance in this process, always within the framework of the rules previously agreed in the Memorandum of Understanding", reads the statement of the platform.

"We are in Mexico with the objective of advancing on the constitution of the Social Attention Table to promote child nutrition, transplantation and vaccination programs, among others that are equally important," he added.

Until this Friday, none of the representatives of the official delegation had pronounced on the absence to the appointment.

It was also unclear if the meeting would take place this Saturday.

The case of Alex Saab

Jorge Rodríguez, head of the government delegation, questioned the statements of James Story, United States ambassador to Venezuela, in which he assured that the case of the extradition of Colombian businessman Alex Saab will continue its course because in the United States there is independence of powers .

Rodríguez had announced that Saab would join the negotiating delegation that represents Maduro at the table in Mexico.

The businessman has been detained in Cape Verde since June 2020 accused of money laundering and is accused of being the front man of Nicolás Maduro.

His defense argues that he is a political kidnapped.
