Today, the Ministry of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection started selling mineral water within the halls of the Syrian Trade Corporation via the electronic card without registering a prior request for it.
According to the Ministry’s clarifications, each card is allocated two large-sized water bottles (two boxes), each box containing six 1.5-liter bottles for each container, and a small-sized water bottle containing 12 half-liter bottles every two weeks.
The box of large packages is sold at 3150 pounds, and the packet of small packages is sold at 4,200 pounds.
The director of the Umayyad complex, Manal Al-Atta, confirmed in a statement to SANA the institution's keenness to provide its halls with mineral water on an ongoing basis to provide it to citizens, break its monopoly in the markets, and enhance the concept of positive intervention.
SANA monitored the opinions of a number of citizens regarding the new procedure, as Bilal Ali Deeb and Fairouz Muhammad in the Umayyad complex considered that the move is a good step to break the monopoly of water bottles and prevent raising its price in the markets, noting that the price of one bottle of small size in the markets reached a thousand pounds and the bottle of measurement Big for more than 1800 pounds.
In the Ibn Asaker complex, Abu Fouad al-Hassan called for positive intervention in all the materials that traders try to monopolize and provide at their real prices for citizens. Mahmoud al-Abdullah also called for adding other materials and selling them in this way, such as oil, ghee and rice.
Last Sunday, the Ministry of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection started selling sugar and tea via the electronic card at a reduced price than the local markets and without registering a prior request for the two materials, with the aim of breaking the monopoly and promoting the concept of positive intervention.
