The SPD leader explains where the party left “hid” the election campaign

A popular accusation not only from Laschet: The SPD had "hidden" its party leaders in the Bundestag election campaign.

Now they clarify the place.

Berlin / Cologne - Shortly before the election, SPD party leader Norbert Walter-Borjans reveals a “best-kept secret”: Now it is clear where he and co-leader Saskia Esken were supposedly “hidden” during the election campaign.

In a tweet with the comment "madness", among other things, he ironically makes fun of a much-quoted statement by, among others, Union chancellor candidate Armin Laschet.

On Friday evening, Walter-Borjans posted a photo on Twitter showing four people: He, Esken, SPD General Secretary Lars Klingbeil and her candidate for Chancellor Olaf Scholz.

Apparently they sit comfortably together in a restaurant basement.

Only Scholz does not look into the camera.

The four probably discussed the last steps before the federal election.

Scholz gave his final rally in Cologne on Friday.

During the election campaign, the SPD was repeatedly accused by political opponents of “hiding” the party leaders.

If they were absent from talk shows and other TV appearances or hardly showed any presence, the accusation was quickly there.

The background to this is that the party leaders are pursuing a more left-wing policy than is attributed to Chancellor candidate Scholz.

In addition, surveys have long shown that many would like Scholz to be Chancellor, but could not do so with his party.
