Unveiling with obstacles, but soon things will run smoothly for cyclists

Good news for cyclists: from early summer 2022 there will be a new continuous cycle path connection between Moorenweis and Grafrath.

Bavaria's Transport Minister Kerstin Schreyer and District Administrator Thomas Karmasin gave the go-ahead for the construction of the 1.6-kilometer section between Moorenweis and the confluence of FFB 6.

Moorenweis - The path along State Road 2054 is being built by the Freising State Building Authority and is usually 2.5 meters wide. It is the first construction section of the footpath and bike path between Moorenweis and Jesenwang. "With our cycle path construction program, we will have a total of 200 million euros in federal and state funds by 2024," reported Schreyer. The Free State is investing around 700,000 euros in Moorenweis for the first construction phase. The municipality takes over ten percent.

The continuation of the route from the confluence of FFB 6 to Jesenwang is planned.

The municipality of Jesenwang has already contacted the property owners for this purpose.

At the same time, the district has been building a new pedestrian and cycle path on the FFB 6 district road since June 2021. It will run for a length of around four kilometers between the end of Grafrath and the confluence with State Road 2054 east of Moorenweis and thus to the cycle path of the Free State.

Karmasin's conclusion: "From spring 2022 Grafrath train station can be reached very safely by bike from Moorenweis."
