Miesbach - The Waitzinger Wiese in Miesbach is to be completely renovated.

In addition to a height limitation and the redesign of the driveway and banquet, the relocation of the advertising pillar on the corner of Schlierseer- and Susanna-Waitzinger-Strasse is also planned.

But that is anything but easy.

There is unanimous opinion in the building committee that the poster pillar must be moved from its original location, as it severely impairs the view in the area where the two streets meet.

However, the attempt to relocate them did not meet with approval from the operating company, Deutsche Städtische Medien GmbH.

Instead of the pillar, the company favored two large billboards on Schlierseer Strasse next to Waitzinger Wiese, which the committee members found too bulky at the July meeting.

But the committee's proposal to move the column to the northwest exit towards Habererplatz has meanwhile been rejected by the company, as Mayor Gerhard Braunmiller (CSU) reported - the company, which operates a total of nine advertising columns in Miesbach, has too little pedestrian frequency there.

Dispute over the billboard for the federal election on the Miesbach market square

On Thursday evening in the building committee, the topic was on the table again.

Braunmiller's compromise saw a billboard on Schlierseer Strasse, but the committee members were not satisfied with that.

Erhard Pohl (CSU), who had already determined in July that an advertising pillar was not wrong, therefore suggested putting up a pillar instead of a billboard - “that would be much more pleasant”.

Billboards are "too bulky"

Michael Lechner (FWG) saw it similarly: "We should move the column there because it is not that bulky." His parliamentary colleague Florian Ruml had concerns that the position was negotiable because you could not go around the column - "Perhaps the green strip at Waitzinger Keller would be a possibility."

Consent or termination

What Third Mayor Franz Mayer (CSU) clearly rejected: “No way!” Rather, it is a consideration to completely part with this advertising unit.

According to the administration, the contract is extended by one year at a time, which prompted Mayer to apply for termination: "Then we have a new basis for negotiation."

An approach that the committee followed unanimously.

It was unanimously decided to remove the advertising pillar at the previous location.

In consultation with the building yard and civil engineering department, it can now be set up again a little further south on Schlierseer Straße.

Otherwise there is a risk of termination.

Rehabilitation of Schlierseer Strasse

The access to Waitzinger Wiese is currently closed.

If you want to park there, you have to use the alternative driveway at the Edeka parking lot.

The reason for the closure is construction work that also involves installing a height restriction (we reported).

At the same time, the work in this so-called secondary area is the prelude to the renovation of Schlierseer Strasse, which is scheduled to begin on October 4th.

For drivers, this means a noticeable change, because Schlierseer Straße will then be completely closed for three to four weeks between the access roads to Edeka and Volksfestwiese - depending on the weather.

In addition, the high-altitude footpath on Schlierseer Straße will be paved in mid-October.
