We provide answers to common questions.

Berlin - On September 26, 2021, the 19th Berlin House of Representatives will be elected for a legislative period of five years.

At the same time, the elections to the twelve district council assemblies, the federal election, the state election in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and the referendum of the initiative Deutsche Wohnen & Co. expropriate take place.

Until when will the voting notification for the election of the Berlin House of Representatives be sent out?

Around 2.45 million Berliners are called to vote.

The voting notification should be sent to them by post by 5 September at the latest.

The voting notification will state the election date, the constituency, the address, the opening times of the polling station and whether it is barrier-free.

What to do if you have not received an election notification for the election of the Berlin House of Representatives?

If you haven't received a voting notification by September 5, you should go to your district office and ask for it.

In any case, you will need your identity card or passport for identification.

You should do that by September 10th.

After that, it is no longer possible to correct the electoral roll.

Anyone who has German citizenship, is at least 18 years old on election day and has had their main residence in Berlin for at least three months can participate in the election for the Berlin House of Representatives.

What do you need to bring with you to vote for the Berlin House of Representatives?

If you vote in person on election day, you must bring official identification with a photo.

These include, for example, the identity card or passport.

The election notification is not absolutely necessary.

But you need to know at which address and in which voting room you have to be.

This is the only place where you can check with your ID whether you are in the correct voting room before you receive a voting slip. 

How can you apply for a postal vote to elect the Berlin House of Representatives?

You don't want to or can't go to the polling station on September 26th and still vote?

Then apply for a postal vote.

The application should be submitted as early as possible, but no later than September 24th 6pm, so that the voting documents can be sent to you in good time.
