Thousands of tons of lava have flowed from Cumbre Vieja volcano since its eruption began last Saturday, destroying hundreds of homes and forcing nearly 6,000 people to flee.
Experts confirmed that the volcano has entered a new eruption phase, forcing the authorities to close the island's airport today.
It is noteworthy that the island of "La Palma" is one of the archipelago of the Canary Islands.
