The Director of Readiness, Ambulance and Emergency at the Ministry of Health, Dr. Tawfiq Hassaba, revealed that the cumulative number of Corona virus infections accepted in various governorate hospitals exceeded 3,000 patients.

Dr. Hassaba indicated in a statement to SANA’s delegate that the ministry is working to allocate Dummar Hospital to receive Corona patients transferred from hospitals and in need of intensive care, with a capacity of 17 care beds.

He pointed out that the occupancy rate of the intensive care rooms designated for Corona patients in Damascus and its countryside and Lattakia has reached one hundred percent, and patients are transferred to the nearest governorates, where recently 4 Corona patients in need of care were transferred from Damascus to hospitals in Homs Governorate.

Hassaba confirmed that hospitals and health cadres are working at full capacity to overcome the current wave of spread of the virus, indicating that the Ministry provides all necessary medicines and applied in the treatment protocol for Corona patients, in addition to oxygen, strengthening means of prevention and protective medical clothing for medical staff working in isolation departments and in contact with patients.

On the increase in the number of deaths among cases infected with corona, an account explained that a large number of patients visit hospitals with severe and critical symptoms after home treatment for more than ten days, and a significant decrease in oxygenation of up to 45 percent sometimes, which increases the need to accept them in care rooms, delays recovery and leads to death in Some cases, calling for a review of the hospital or seeking medical advice when feeling any symptom similar to the symptoms of Corona, to determine the treatment protocol and its place according to each case.

Dr. Hassaba pointed out that until today, no infection has been detected inside hospitals for a patient receiving the anti-viral vaccine, which confirms the importance of obtaining the vaccine in addition to the commitment to implement preventive health measures.
