Dr. Ray Bitton, chairman of the "Registry" interns 'organization, threatened today (Saturday) that if the outline that shortens the interns' shifts to 22 or 21 hours rather than 18 hours is approved, many of them will resign.
This means that hospitals could collapse immediately.
In a post she posted on her Facebook page, she wrote: "Any outline that is more than 2 + 16 will immediately result in a mass resignation of interns from all hospitals. "They are not starting an internship - a total struggle, everyone is inside! This time we are going with it to the end! The days of slavery are over! The days of kindness are over!"
Bitton further wrote that "if there is no real shortcut - there are no interns. If this outline of shame passes, if we are recognized and our future like this, we will not be here."

The interns' struggle has been going on for about a decade, when their first protest took place in 2011, when a group arose that expressed its protest over the long shifts, which reach 26 consecutive hours.
At the height of the protest then about 1,000 interns filed resignation letters.
As a result of this king, the Ministries of Health and Finance then amended the collective agreement that had already been signed, stipulating that standards would be allocated for shortening shifts - but this never actually happened.
Just last July, the Medical Association recommended four models that would shorten shifts from 26 hours to 16 to 18 hours in most professions.
