In 2009 the Protestant parish of Ismaning-Unterföhring fulfilled its dream of having its own place of worship in Ismaning.
At that time there were some subsidies and grants, but the municipality finances its own share to this day.
Currently, 210,000 euros of financing are still required and new investments are imminent in the coming years.
Ismaning
- "We dream of receiving a large donation," says the pastor, Carsten Klingenberg, about the current situation.
Little has happened with the corona lockdowns and many contact bans.
Now with the permission to offer events, there should also be benefit concerts again for church funding.
Klingenberg knows that the parish is not classified as economically well positioned because of the liabilities.
Matching organ is missing
In the Gabriel Church, the congregation would also like to purchase an organ that is suitable for the size of the house in the medium term.
At the moment they are using a small organ that is actually not suitable for the building - and you can hear that too.
The luxury solution would be a pipe organ that would cost at least 100,000 euros.
In view of the unpaid church, Carsten Klingenberg doesn't even dare to dream of this path.
The realistic alternative is an electric organ, which is available from 20,000 euros.
"There are already high-quality instruments available," says Klingenberg.
The heating also needs to be replaced
Another major task is the renewal of the heating in the community center next to the Gabriel Church.
Here, too, the church family has to contribute financially with a third of the costs.
This is expected to be a four-digit amount that will still have to be financed in the next few years.
The package of liabilities and new investments is therefore a great challenge for the evangelical community. In the coming months, events will be held to attract donations, and Carsten Klingenberg has not yet given up hope that the generous patron will be at the door at some point.
