Opinion | Violence in Arab Society: The Greatest Strategic Challenge to the State of Israel Israel today

2021-09-27T10:57:47.620Z

The state treated the sector as a "backyard" • Doubtful elements on the margins took over our public space • But the failure to deal with violence in Arab society is not only intelligence but also leadership

Every incident of violence, and especially murder and injury to human life, is by all accounts a serious incident that does not align with the life of a modern society in the 21st century that strives for integration, education and economic development.

On the other hand, a significant proportion of the victims of the murder are not Righteous Among the Nations, to say the least, and are not innocent.

And while it is not comforting, because no one in the world has the right to take another person’s life or take the law into their own hands, many who have been murdered recently are part of the phenomenon of revenge and liquidation of accounts between criminal organizations and criminals.

Yes, quite a few murder victims are part of criminal conflicts.

If the police do not have the ability, at least on the intelligence level, to prevent the continued bloodshed and possession of weapons, they must give their opinion and the law in question, otherwise we will continue to count the victims of the murder.

The main argument is towards the organization entrusted with maintaining security.

Violence resulting mainly from revenge or force and criminal terrorism that originates in the desire to control, whether it originates on the personal level or whether it is on the criminal level, is part of the dark and wrong culture in Arab society.

This is despite the fact that most Arab citizens are not only normative and want to live in peace and quiet, but are also affected by a process of Westernization and Israeliization.

The same people, who are indeed a minority and perhaps the fringe of society, in their violent behavior and ways of terror, are trying to take over the other.

The other is the son or daughter, the neighbor or the weakest in the family in the locality or area, and to this day they are successful.

The fact that violence in Arab society is intensifying day by day, and has reached dimensions that endanger not only Arab society and not only Jewish society but also state security, has only surfaced in recent years.

But non-murder, or organized crime, has turned the lives of most Arab citizens into an everyday hell.

Many localities where there are soldiers who serve regularly, "celebrate" their return home with bundles of automatic weapon fire.

Everyone hears and many see, but choose to ignore due to fear and apprehension.

Here I can testify for myself.

The obvious question is: Where is the IDF?

Here comes the role and function of the police and especially at the intelligence level: Why does the police allow such a phenomenon?

And assuming that the police do not have the right information, then where is the GSS, which is successful in every mission and action, and can take any bullet from anywhere in any locality, Arab or Jewish?

nadir

The murder is raging in Arab society. To date, the lives of more than 90 people have come to an end. This is nothing but a low point, but none of those responsible - the state, Israeli governments for generations, the Arab leadership, and especially the heads of the various authorities and captains at the local level in each locality - saw the future. Maybe there are those who chose to bury their heads in the sand "as long as it is not with him"?

Violence in Arab society is the greatest strategic challenge for the State of Israel.

Had it been a security challenge, things would have been handled differently, in the most difficult way.

When the intelligence community in Israel felt threatened by the activities of the northern Islamic movement, it did not take time to recommend to the political echelon its outlawing and a plan to dismantle all its institutions and economic and media assets, and even arrested its leaders.

Is it true that the northern Islamic movement is a greater danger than the murder of some 1,600 Arab citizens in the last two decades ?!

The failure on the issue of violence is not only these intelligence but also leadership.

The state has so far treated Arab society as a "backyard," while society itself has allowed for illicit phenomena such as the takeover of public space by dubious elements.

Arabs should not be considered a "national threat" even if Israel is a Jewish state.

This is not an issue of political or religious identity - this is an issue of life and death

When talking about decades of neglect, there will be those who will stand on their own two feet and claim that billions have been invested in Arab society. The answer is clear and obvious - it is true that quite a few resources have been invested in the last two decades, especially after the events of October and the conclusions of the State Commission of Inquiry, Or. However investing and diverting attention was without an orderly plan, and it is difficult to close gaps and address the problem in the short term, even if investors have endless resources. Closing the gaps requires a plan and serious investment for a period of 15 to 20 years.

It is difficult at this stage to be optimistic and say that the issue of crime and violence will soon end.

By the end of the year - and I say this with great sorrow - we will cross the number of 100 murdered.

This is the annual statistic.

This is not just a point problem - but a horizontal problem, related to education from an early age, overcrowding and the prevention of a struggle for land and places of residence.

The issue is also related to the proper utilization of budgets and resources in local authorities, and problems directly related to corruption, nepotism, sponsorship fees and those who terrorize the weaker than him.

Violence and the use of weapons in a reformed modern society, which has a high level of control over data and information on 22 countries and half a billion Arabs, should not be separated from maintaining national security.

And yes, the Arabs are also part of national security, or at least should be.

They should not be considered a "national threat" even if Israel is a Jewish state.

This is not an issue of political or religious identity - this is an issue of life and death.
