The far-left U.S. House of Representatives member Alexandria Oxyo Cortez today (Saturday) explained in her long letter her opposition to a bill that transferred $ 1 billion in funding to the Iron Dome system and passed by a huge majority of 420 supporters and nine Senate opponents.
Cortez explained in the letter that she opposed the law because she believes it was recklessly filed that posed a risk to human lives and threats against members of her community.
However, Cortez chose to abstain from voting and did not vote against, which caused tremendous resentment towards her on the far left in the United States.
"This law transfers another billion dollars to this system, in an amount close to what has been raised for its funding in the last decade, and that is in addition to the additional three billion dollars we transferred to the Israeli government for military purposes," Cortez wrote, without explicitly opposing funding the Iron Dome system.
"I firmly believe that the US administration should be more critical in providing military assistance, not only to Israel but to every country in the world. I also believe that for far too long, the United States has provided unreserved support to Israel without doing anything to address human rights violations. Of the Palestinians by this government, "the legislature added.

Cortez also referred to the documentation revealed in which she was seen crying after the vote, apparently due to the pressure she was put on to abstain from voting and not oppose the law.
"Yes. I cried. I cried for the complete disregard of human beings affected by this decision and its right to be humanized. I cried for the establishment preferring an explosive path in such a place of consideration. I cried because of my party's lack of consideration for those most threatened and vulnerable," Cortez wrote.
It seems that the statement issued by the legislature was mainly intended to reduce criticism of her on the left, for ultimately choosing to avoid it.
This did not prevent a series of particularly venomous tweets from members of the radical wing of the Democratic Party, who circulated her picture alongside the caption "refrained" in response to the letter.
