After the four-lane expansion of the B318 near Holzkirchen and the renovation of the federal road to Warngau, which was carried out in 2020, work will now continue in a southerly direction. On Monday, September 27th, work will begin to renew the lane between Warngau and Kreuzstrasse, the intersection of the B472 and the B318. As reported by the State Building Authority in Rosenheim, this is necessary because the carriageway in this area is particularly badly damaged by the sustained exposure to cars and heavy goods traffic.
"In addition to the necessary preparatory work on the construction site, the first step is to peel the road shoulder and install so-called shoulder slabs in tight curves," said the authority.
“To do this, the lane will have to be narrowed in places or blocked on one side from Monday, September 27th.” Traffic will be guided past the construction site with traffic lights.
B318 partially completely blocked
Later, from around the beginning of October, the necessary milling and asphalt work will follow.
The damaged road surface and the damaged base course will be removed over a total of around five kilometers.
A new surface course is then installed.
In order to obstruct the traffic as little as possible, this work is carried out exclusively in the evening and night hours.
For this, the B318 will be completely closed between 8 p.m. and 5.30 a.m. and the traffic will be redirected over a large area.
During this period, the federal highway remains passable during the day.
The Rosenheim State Building Authority will provide information on the exact time of the full nighttime closure and the route of the diversion route.
Working until the end of October
During the remaining work up to the completion of the measure, including the installation of the road shoulder and the alignment of access roads and junctions, the road can be used on one side.
If the weather cooperates, the main road between Warngau and Kreuzstraße is expected to be open to traffic again at the end of October.
With this measure, the Free State of Bavaria is investing a total of around 1.1 million euros in federal funds in the rehabilitation of the B318 federal highway.
