The prognoses in Berlin differ, the RBB sees the Greens at the top, the ZDF the SPD.
Who will prevail will only become clearer on Monday night.
Nevertheless, both SPD candidate Franziska Giffey and the Green Bettina Jarasch are optimistic.
"It's close tonight, but we're not finished yet," said
Giffey
: "We're at a point where everything can come out."
She urged her supporters to be "confident" and "grateful" "for all those who have supported us."
She is grateful "that the SPD is so far ahead again."
According to the ARD extrapolation from 8 p.m., the SPD came to 22.3 percent.
The Greens with top candidate Bettina Jarasch reached 22.9 percent.
Jarasch
was enthusiastic about the predictions. "Berlin voted and it's great," said Jarasch. The Greens would have caught up without equal. "I'm completely overwhelmed," she said. Jarasch did not worry that it would only become clear during the night who was ahead: "I have to say, I'm looking forward to a night without sleep."
The CDU is meanwhile well behind the SPD and the Greens and comes, according to the extrapolation, to 15.4 percent.
CDU top candidate Kai Wegner
said that they had stood “to replace this Senate and that remains our goal”. Berlin has so far been ruled by the SPD, the Greens and the Left. But Wegner also admitted that he had hoped for more. “One thing then also belongs to the truth. The wind turned quite a bit, ”said Wegner. He lamented a lack of tailwind from the federal government.
Left-top candidate Klaus Lederer
spoke out in favor of a continuation of the red-red-green coalition in Berlin, which has been in power since 2016. According to the extrapolation, his party comes to 13.6 percent. There was a clear majority in favor of an alliance of the SPD, the Greens and the Left, he said in the RBB. In the past five years, the three partners have achieved a lot together. "If we have our way, we will continue." Left parliamentary group leader Anne Helm spoke in the RBB of a "stable result".
The AfD suffered a major loss.
After receiving 14.2 percent of the vote in 2016, the extrapolation shows that it is now only 6.8 percent.
AfD top candidate Kristin Brinker
expressed herself calmly.
"We will definitely remain a strong opposition party," said Brinker in the RBB.
FDP top candidate Sebastian Czaja
was meanwhile satisfied with the performance of the Liberals.
The FDP has probably achieved the second best result since reunification, said Czaja in the RBB.
According to the extrapolation, the FDP achieved 7.6 percent.
The FDP achieved its best result since 1990 in 2001 with 9.9 percent.
